Introduce Aegis™ 3D-printed armor ahead of the 2023 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), educating customers about a highly technical drilling innovation while creating a memorable product launch that stood apart from competitors.
I developed the creative concept and wrote the launch animation script, collaborating with subject matter experts, designers, animators, and voice talent to transform complex engineering into a compelling visual story.
Rather than producing a conventional technical animation, I built the campaign around the product's name. Inspired by the word Aegis, the animation reimagined the oilfield as a medieval battlefield, using the imagery of a knight in armor to symbolize protection, durability, and strength.
A British-accented narrator guided viewers through the story as technical explanations were woven into medieval imagery, visual metaphors, and memorable language. The drill bit was shown being forged piece by piece before triumphantly cutting through rock, while the knight's victory reinforced the campaign's closing message: "Conquer any challenge in the field."
By tying the product's technical benefits to a memorable narrative, the campaign transformed complex engineering concepts into an engaging story that differentiated Aegis from more traditional product launches.
Released ahead of OTC 2023, the animation generated strong engagement across multiple channels and helped spark customer conversations at the conference.
